FRAMING THE COTSWOLDS

ARTIST - GRAPHIC DESIGNER - FRAMER
Hello! I'm Liz, and I'm an Artist and Picture Framer running a home-based
family business.

We have a Framing and Design studio hidden in the terraced houses of Riddings Street with traditional manually operated machines and tools.

As an Artist and Graphic Designer, it seemed natural to learn the skills for framing my artwork and prints, opening the service to my local community and offering Artist discounts to make beautifully finished artwork accessible.

Having trained under passionate woodworkers and brilliant Artists, I follow the path of skills passed from master to apprentice, but there is more to any craft than a simple formula, and it's this that gives the unique trait to RFS picture frames.
In consultations, I take care to become familiar with the qualities of the artwork before finding a compatible wood. Are there colours or tones in the picture that could be picked out? Is it a fragile medium that might need conserving? A useful principal applies for the frames I build; frame for an invisible enhancement.

“Things people have made with wakened hands,
and put soft life into are awake through years with transferred touch,
and go on glowing for long years.
And for this reason,
some old things are lovely
warm still with the life of forgotten people
who made them.”
